The last two weeks I have gone through some extreme emotional rides that I was too involved and too tired to take care of my podcast business. But now, I am finally settled, and determinded to start my life again! So here we are, second edition of my awesome show, the British Invasion! And more brilliant music to come!

btw, this particular edition is for promoting podcasting in Occidental College. It reveals a little bit of my understanding and belief about podcasting. hum~ look out for those serious stuff! Otherwise, the music is just absolutely brilliant! I love it and I hope you like it too!

the second show on the way!

I am compressing the file right now, can't wait to get it out, so I am posting this blog. hehe, after spending a LOT of time today, I finally got the new software working on my crapy laptop. At one point I was almost afraid that I am going to lose the recordings, nerve cracking experience! But yes, it's going all well now, and hopefully nothing goes wrong in the next hour so that I can load my second show! Yay!

My planning

my podcast downloads has increased to 6GB yesterday, meaning another 20 hits, which is brilliant! Now I REALLY have to put another show out, and I am quite confident about that since now I do have a LOT to talk about, all the news about Oxy Podcast Soc, KOXY, feeds and my life of course.

Hopesome from home, which is China, agreed to promote my podcast once I get a Chinese version out, and that is exciting. He certainly has a certain number of readers and I hope by doing some Chinese shows, I can help pushing podcasting in China further.

as for Oxy Podcast Soc, I realized it really needs more promotion and advertising, yet I still see the potential. Hopefully Oxy Podcast Soc will gain its momentum slowly but steadily.

my plan for now is:
1. deliver my 2nd show soon! possibily by this weekend, I doubt if I can use my laptop coz it's really messed up right now, but I am thinking about using my lab computer at this weekend~ a bit troublesome, but definitely more efficient

2. deliver my 1st Chinese show! and that need some planning as I don't want to repeat what I say in my English shows. But I will for sure get it out soon! hopefully before I leave Pittsburgh on the 6th of August.

3. find a web hosting agent and build a REAL blog with my OWN space. So that is the start of something wonderful, at least fullfilling for me. But it costs money~ so work hard Dorothy!

RSS feed

I've just set up the RSS feed for this blog as Podcast feed, yet there is still problem with the xml since it does not read the length of my podcast properly and I don't really know why. Will try to figure it out soon. But now people can subscribe to my podcast! Huray! (ok...enough talking, need to make more shows~)

Meanwhile, I really really need to write my abstract for my summer research project now, and also my not exactly finished power point presentation. Podcasting has drawn too much of my attention these days, need to focus more on my summer internship now.

oh, btw, my friend Jon from Norwich, England, just had a baby boy! I am so happy for him! Big boy Jon is big daddy Jon now! I love the kiddo!

OXY PODCASTER SOC

so I've sent out my words to the digest, and got a few respond. It's not surprising that somebody in Oxy has already started looking at podcast. Jason Preston, in fact, has explored the field of podcasting way more thoroughly than I did. Check out his awesome article about podcasting, and wow he's been to Rome!

Anyway, I am still waiting for people to learn a bit more about this exciting new media, and hopefully you, will gain an interest in it and join the millions of podcasters over the world! and trust me, it's fun! contact me (dorothyzm@gmail.com) if you have questions!

the British Invasion #1

download my first podcast, the British Invasion #1 (right click and click save link as...)
I know the file is a bit big~ sorry about that, I will find a better software to compress it better next time.

shownotes 1 will be up in a minute

5GB of downloads!

during the past few days (2 days and a half to be exact), I had 5GBs downloads of my first podcast show, that's more than 100 people! So THAT was the power of Internet.

The weird thing though, nobody has really said anything about my podcast yet, so I don't know if they liked it or just hated it so much that can't even finish it. hum...but I am looking forward to more downloads and hopefully get some feedback before making a second show.

The other thing is, I've created a Chinese podcast site at http://blog.toodou.com/dorothyzm
one of the best podcasting sites in China, but their podcasters are just...mostly disappointing, let's put it that way. Podcasters in China put too much emphasis on themselves instead of concentrating on how to develop a good show. And too much rubbish video podcasts, really. Maybe in the long run, video podcasts will be popular, but untill now, the quality of video podcasts are still poor, at least in China.

The last thing is that I realized last night, I spelled "invasion" wrong...my mom pointed it out for me...ok, that was very embarassing...since I alaughed at her english all the time...hehe

a few things - just me rumbling again basically

so finally I sent out the message through Oxy digest, hopefully there will be people responding, or, at least direct some more people to my podcast. Right now, I've had about 8 downloads...

My first Podcast production experience was fun. Being a DJ is definitely harder than I thought. I totally nicked Micheal Rundle's podcasting style, and I still did poorly. Notice how many mistakes I made in the show! Because I sorta want to keep it true and real, I didn't jut down any notes before recording, and didn't cut out recorded pieces afterwards either. Also I had this faked British accent which really makes me laugh every time I listen to it. Afterall, it took me about 3 hours to put the show together, plus compressing overnight. It was fun though, pretending to be a real DJ and talk to the crappy microphone.

About my next show, well, I would love to deliver it this week, but it seems unlikely. My laptop these days have gone crazy, I think my system is really messed up after me pulling it up and down. So I bought this 100 dollar external hard drive to store all my files, music, pictures, junks so that I can format my laptop hard drive and reinstall the system. This probably wouldn't be done until a week or two later. I will try my best to put up a new show before I leave Pittsburgh though, as long as my laptop does not crash down.
